Non-standard PDEs via variational and topological methods.
Venue: Corvinus University, Building C, Room C427
Date: June 24 (Tuesday) 10:00-11:00
Abstract
In this talk we will study some non-standard PDEs. More specifically, equations containing the so-called double-phase operators. In addition to presenting the most important results in the field, we will study a class of equations involving the so-called critical Sobolev exponent on the right-hand side. In such cases, the main obstacle in dealing with existence and multiplicity results for quasilinear problems with critical nonlinearity is the lack of compactness of the embedding $W^{1,p}_0(\Omega) \hookrightarrow L^{p^*}(\Omega)$. Within the framework of the talk, we will discuss several methods designed to overcome this difficulty.
We will conclude the presentation by addressing further questions and open problems that may be of interest for future research.
